Abstract

Abstract Background and objectives: Discourse analysts have employed genre analysis to discover textual structures of medical texts as well as to compare and contrast differences within and across genres due to variables such as language and cultural background. However, a lack of research is felt in analyzing the research article genre in the field of nursing and midwifery in the Iranian context. It seems that few studies have focused on finding the textual differences between abstracts published locally in Iran and those published internationally. Materials and Method: In this study, 30 abstracts from two Iranian journals and 30 abstracts from two international journals were chosen and compared based on Swale's and Nwogu's model. Chi-square test was utilized to detect the possible differences. Results: The results showed that Iranian and international abstracts were significantly different in providing "indicating a gap" and "indicating non-consistent results". No other significant differences were observed in the analysis. Conclusion: The findings can be incorporated in teaching materials for writing courses and encourage Iranian ESP teachers toward more research-based teaching. It also seems that further studies are needed for other aspects of writing.

Abstract

Background and Objectives: Situs inversus or situs transversus is a rare congenital condition in which thorax and abdominal organs are positioned in a transverse manner, as in front of a mirror. Its prevalence is less than one in 10,000 of general population. This paper is intended to report one such case in a 10-year-old student. Material & Methods: During the implementation of a school health program, the cardiac auscultation of a 10-year-old male student on the left chest was inaudible. Louder heart sounds on the right side, suspected early diagnosis of Dextrocardia and/or Situs inversus. With Chest x-ray and abdominal sonography confirmed the initial diagnosis. Conclusion: Situs Inversus with dextrocardia, usually with transposition of the great vessels is a rare heart condition. However, most affected individuals have a good prognosis and can still live normally. Congenital cardiac anomalies occur only in 3-5% of cases. In the reported case, there was no medical problem despite a closer examination. Inherited as an autosomal recessive trait, situs inversus occurs in men and women equally. Inverted anatomical condition and the atypical history of situs inversus make the early diagnosis difficult in these patients. Obtaining an accurate patient history and performing precise clinical examinations and relining on imaging techniques in traumatic patients can reduce medical errors in treating such rare cases

Abstract

Introduction: The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy on depression and follow-up treatment of patients with systemic lupus.
Methods: The present study was quasi-experimental (pre-test-post-test with control group and quarterly follow-up phase). The statistical population of this study included all patients with Lupus treated in Shiraz hospitals in 1397; Using the available sampling method from a population of 750 people, 60 women were selected and then randomly assigned to two groups of 30 people included control groups and experimental group. The experimental intervention group received treatment acceptance and commitment treatment within three months in 12 session’s 90-minute, but the control group was not exposed to any activity. The questionnaires used in this study included Beck's depression questionnaire and the follow-up and treatment questionnaire. Data were analyzed by analysis of variance with repeated measurements analysis.
Results: The Findings of the study showed that commitment training portfolios had a significant effect on reducing depression and follow-up, treatment of women with systemic lupus (P ≤ 0.0001).
Conclusions: According to the findings of the present study, it is possible to use acceptance and commitment training packages to improve depression and follow-up treatment of women with lupus.
