Abstract

Abstract In recent decades, qualitative approaches enter to the domain of medical research, and it has been considered. Rigor includes activities that increase the probability of obtaining valid results. Different approaches of qualitative research causing different methods for rigor has been achieved. In this methodology paper, by using descriptive and analytical methods has been tried that with introduction and overview of the types of rigor in qualitative research, Literature review and also address ways increase the type of rigor. In this study, Guba and Lincoln's approach(1994) include, Credibility, Transferability, Dependability, Confirm ability offer and methods to achieve the rigor of these four criteria has been suggested. Conclusions: According to the results of the research that has been done to generate knowledge, paying attention to the mentioned methods would help to judge precisely about the credibility of qualitative studies and obtain reasonable judgment.

Abstract

Background & Objectives: Diabetes is the most complex disease in the case of  management and self-care and the best treatment is prevention. This study aimed to compare the personality factors and coping strategies in healthy men and women with type 2 diabetes.

Material & Methods: This study is a causal-comparative research.The study population included all patients with type 2 diabetes and their relatives who were referred to Khorramabad Shohadaye Ashayer hospital during the May, June and July of 2015. Fifty people with type 2 Diabetes and 50 healthy subjects were considered as patients and healthy control groups, respectively. Data were collected using Questionnaire (EPQ-R) and F coping strategies (WCQ). For data analysis SPSS18 software was used.

Results: Results showed that there were significant differences between the people with type 2 diabetes and normal group in the case of neuroticism and psychosis sense (P<0.001). There was also a difference between the two groups in the case of excitement-based strategy. There was no difference between them in term of problem-based strategy. The results also showed that there was no significant difference between men and women in terms of extraversion, emotional strategies, and problem solving (P<0.001).

Conclusion: According to the results, personality factors of neuroticism and psychosis temperamental and self-care strategies can be as important antecedents to be considered in diabetic patients. In comparing the two types of coping, problem solving strategies have more useful results in helping to the patients with type 2 diabetes.

Abstract

Introduction: Major Depression disorder is the most common psychiatric disorder in which mood swings and sadness are prominent symptoms. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of emotional schema therapy on the severity of depression and cognitive emotion regulation strategies.
Method: The present study was a pre-test, post-test design with a control group. Among the patients with major depressive disorder who were referred to health centers in Khoy city, 30 were selected and randomly and equally assigned to the experimental and control groups. The experimental group was exposed to 9 one-hour treatment sessions, and the data were analyzed using the Beck questionnaire (BDI-II), Leahy emotional schema questionnaire (LESS), and short-form cognitive and emotional regulation strategies (CERQ-SF) in pre-test and post-test. They were collected and, after data collection, were analyzed using MANCOVA.
Results: The results showed that emotional schema therapy between the two groups had a significant difference in the severity of depression F = 161.27, maladaptive strategies of cognitive emotion regulation F = 41.93, and adaptive strategies F = 31.13 at the level of 0.001. The effect size of emotional schema therapy for depression severity was 0.86, adaptive strategies 0.65, and maladaptive strategy 0.71.
Conclusion: Emotional Schema Therapy as an Emerging Emotion-Focused Therapy can be used as an effective and efficient treatment to reduce depression and modify emotional schemas and cognitive regulation strategies.
