Abstract Introduction: One of the environmental harmful factors to humans is noise which is an inevitable phenomenon in workplace and life. The noise higher than standard level can be a potential source for human disorders. The aim of this study was to investigate the noise in small workrooms of Bojnurd health centers in 2013. Methods: This study is a descriptive – analytical study. 50 small workplaces were studied. All measurements were performed by a sound meter CEL-620 model. Statistical analysis including ANOVA was performed using SPSS (version 18) software. Results: noise levels were measured in 760 stations. Results showed 2.6% workplaces in the safe zone, 60% in the caution zone and 37.4% were in the danger zone. Stone cutting and welding workplaces have the highest noise levels,94.5, 91.13 dB , respectively. Significant difference in the mean sound level, equivalent sound level and effective pressure level between workshops were observed (P001/0>). Conclusions: Standard sound level is 85 dB. Results showed the noise level in small workplaces is higher than recommended standard level. Therefore, engineering and management measures to reduce noise pollution are recommended.
