Abstract Background &Objectives: Urinary tract infection is a common problem and reflux is the most common urologic abnormalities in pediatric. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of urinary tract infection and urinary reflux in children 1 month to 12 years, early diagnosis , appropriate treatment and prevention were done in 2010 in bojnurd Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was done in 2010 at Imam Reza hospital Bojnurd. Participants in the study included all hospitalized children from 1 month to 12 years who were diagnosed with febrile urinary tract infection. Non-probability samples of 196 subjects were selected. Urine tests (U / A and U / C), demographic questionnaire and laboratory results were completed by a trained nurse. Data were analyzed using SPSS18software and presented with Chi-square test. Results: The studied samples included 73.5% female and 23.5 percent male. Chi-square test showed a significant relationship between the age and urine culture (p=0.004) .Accordingly the maximum number of positive urine culture was seen in the age group of 2 to 3 years old. Urinary reflux prevalence in this age group were also significantly higher than other age groups (p=0.02) Conclusions: This study revealed that urinary tract infections are more common in children 2 to 3 years, and given that the reflux increases the risk of urinary tract infection, paying attention to health tips and necessity of training to prevent of urinary tract infection in children is recommended
