Introduction: This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of the non-computerized blended learning package of working memory and selective attention with that of Captain’s Log software on the components of executive functions associated with epilepsy.
Methods: The present study was a quasi- experimental proposal with non- randomized targeted sampling (pretest-posttest) for control group. A sample of 150 subjects (statistical population) aged 13-15 years old with temporal lobe epilepsy referring to neurology clinics was selected randomly in two experimental groups (each group, 15 patients) and one control group (15 patients). The non- computerized package was trained in 15 sessions (for 4 weeks, one hour each) to the first experimental group and the computerized package was also trained in 15 sessions (for 4 weeks, 45 min each) to the second experimental group, while the control group didn’t receive training. The pre- tests, post- test and follow ups were received 3 months after post- test for all three groups based on the different software versions on the evaluation of executive functions.
Results: The analysis of variance repeated measuring represented a significant difference in the mean score of the dependent variables in the first experimental group compared to the second experimental group and the control group (P < 0.05).
Conclusions: Conclusions suggested that the non- computerized package of working memory and selective attention had a better effect on the components of executive functions than that of captain’s Log computerized package.
