Abstract: (3 Views)
Introduction: This study aimed to determine the difference in the effectiveness of behavioral therapy, cognitive rehabilitation, and drug therapy in increasing the quality of life of patients with Parkinson's disease.
Method: This applied semi-experimental study was conducted employing a one-factor design (with two levels and three groups) and the mixed methods approach. The statistical population included patients with Parkinson's disease in Shiraz, Iran. The sample size (n=54) was determined based on the sample size determination table in Cohen's experimental studies, and the patients were then divided into three groups (18 cases per group). The tools that were used in order to evaluate and diagnose the disorders by the clinical expert of the research project to select the samples include the integrated rating scale of Parkinson's disease, MMSE (to diagnose dementia), and the 39-item quality of life scale of Parkinson's disease. The obtained data were analyzed using statistical tests through SPSS software (version 26).
Results: The findings of the study confirmed the effectiveness of behavioral therapy, cognitive rehabilitation, and drug therapy in the quality of life of patients with Parkinson's disease (P<0.05).
Conclusion: Considering the findings, in order to increase the quality of life of patients with Parkinson's disease, more attention should be paid to cognitive rehabilitation interventions.
