Background & Objectives: Different studies show that metacognitive techniques education is effective in mental health and life improvement. This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of metacognitive techniques education (mindfulness and attention training) on life style of nurses at Bojnord City.
Materials and Methods: This study is semi-experimental (pretest-posttest with control groups). In the present study the statistical population includes all nurses in Bojnord City in 2015. Among them, 30 nurses were selected based on purposive and available sampling. They were assigned randomly into control (N=15) and experimental group (N=15). Before educational intervention, pretest was taken in both groups. Metacognitive techniques (mindfulness and attention training) were done in 10 sessions for experimental group. Each session takes 90 minutes. Control group did not receive any education. Then posttest was taken in both groups. Data was analyzed by multivariate analysis of covariance using SPSS 22 software.
Results: Results showed that metacognitive techniques education cause considerable changes in scores of subjects in experimental group in comparison with the control group. All aspects of nurses life styles also improved by given education (P<0.001).
Conclusion: Metacognitive techniques education (mindfulness and attention training) can help improvement of nurses’ life style.
